Partnering Organizations
There are many organizations that work in conjunction with the Congressional Award. Here is a brief synopsis of each organization and a link to their website.
The National 4-H Council
 4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with caring adults. 4-H clubs focus on advancing the personal growth of each member and helping youth become contributing, productive, self-directed members of society. Club activities vary depending on the interests and resources of each club and reflect members’ diverse interests. However, each club must promote leadership, public speaking and community involvement through monthly meetings, educational field trips and guest presentations, special events and community service.
America’s Promise
America ’s Promise is an Alliance that brings together communities, individuals, companies and organizations from all sectors to improve the odds for children and youth. Members of this Alliance work together to change the public policies affecting children and youth; change the scale and scope of resources devoted to helping young people achieve their full potential; and change practice in the way that young people are served.
AmeriCorps*NCCC
 The National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) is a national service initiative in the United States for individuals 18 to 24 years of age that operates as part of the broader AmeriCorps service network. Its stated mission is "To strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based national and community service." In partnership with nonpofit organizations, state and local agencies and other community organizations, membres complete service projects throughout their assigned region.
Boys Scouts of America
 The purpose of the Boys Scouts of America is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.
Clark County School District (Nevada)
 The Clark County School District is the most active and growing school district in the nation. The district has over 285,000 enrolled students and 315 schools. The district works to ensure that students will have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and ethnics necessary to succeed academically and practice responsible citizenship.
Close Up Foundation
 The Close Up Foundation is the nation’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan citizenship education organization. Since it’s founding in 1970, Close Up has worked to promote responsible and informed participation in the democratic process through a variety of educational programs. Close Up conducts programs to increase civic involvement, promote civic achievement, and encourage civic awareness.
The Coalition for Residential Education (CORE)
 CORE is the national non-profit organization of residential education programs for economically and socially disadvantaged youth. Founded in 1994, CORE’s mission is to promote residential education for youth whose homes or communities cannot meet their needs, and to strengthen both individual programs and the field of residential education.
Coronado SAFE Foundation
 The Coronado SAFE Foundation was conceived by this California community as a response to the problem of adolescent substance abuse. They are a coalition of parents, educators, spiritual leaders, law enforcement and other concerned citizens. They believe that the first responsibility of their community is the well being of its young members. They feel that only a concerted effort by the entire community can prevent our young from falling into the abyss of substance abuse.
Girl Scouts of the USA
 The Girl Scout program can change the way girls see the world and their place in it. Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment. The Girl Scout program is based on four fundamental goals that encourage girls to: Develop to their full potential; Relate to others with increasing understanding, skill and respect; Develop a meaningful set of values to guide their actions and to provide for sound decision-making; Contribute to the improvement of society.
Glories/Happy Hats
 The mission of Glories Happy Hats is to support children suffering from serious illness and their families, while bringing the fundamental goodness of service learning to community youth. Glories Happy Hats seeks to achieve this mission is two ways: Participate in the healing process of hospitalized children through encouragement, hope and compassion; Strengthen youth social-cohesiveness by stimulating and directing their altruistic actions toward hospitalized children suffering from serious illness.
HOBY: Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership
 HOBY is a leadership concentrated program that teaches high school aged students that Democratic Process, and how America “ticks.” HOBY’s underlying vision is to motivate and empower individuals to make a positive difference within out global society through understanding and action based on effective and compassionate leadership.
Los Angeles Unified School District: Beyond the Bell Program
 LAUSD has made a commitment that all students within the district have access to high quality, sage and supervised educational enrichment and recreational programs that engage and inspire learning and achievement beyond the regular school day. The Beyond the Bell branch is charged with the responsibility of overseeing all Extended Day Programs. This responsibility includes bringing a sense of coordination, support, guidance and leadership to all programs operating beyond the traditional school day, before and after-school and on Saturdays, with the exception of Adult School.
National Network 4 Youth
 The National Network for Youth is a 30-year old national non-profit membership and advocacy organization that provides education, networking, training, materials and policy work with federal, state, and local lawmakers. The mission of the National Network for Youth is to champion the needs of runaway, homeless, and other disconnected youth through advocacy, innovation and services - one community at a time.
People to People International
 People to People International is dedicated to enhancing cross-cultural communication within each community, and across communities and nations. Tolerance and mutual understanding are central themes. While not a partisan or political institution, PTPI supports the basic values and goals of its founder, President Dwight D. Eisenhower. In cooperation with the Congressional Award Leadership Commission, People to People International in 1986 established the James and Eunice Doty People to People/Congressional Award Scholarship Fund. At the end of each calendar year, four scholarships are awarded by the fund to junior high and high school students who have earned The Congressional Award that year.
Presidential Classroom
 Presidential Classroom provides the next generation of civic leaders with an extraordinary academic and leadership development experience in Washington, D.C. High School juniors and seniors observe the federal government at work; witness the development of public policy and explore the roles of citizens, lawmakers, experts and businesses in the world’s most successful democracy.
St. Louis Irish Arts
 St. Louis Irish Arts is a local branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, (Translated: "A Gathering of Irish Musicians"), based in Dublin, Ireland. The organization was founded in 1951 and locally in 1972, with the purpose of preserving our cultural heritage. The music, song and dance of Ireland has woven a pattern of friendship in the community and their many friends and members throughout North America and the world. Comhaltas embraces people irrespective of status, creed or politics. The bonding of youth and age is one of the highlights of our branch.
SPW USA
 SPW is an international development charity working in Africa and Asia. Through community and school-based programs we work to empower young people, to help them get involved in the decisions that shape their future. In the deprived rural communities where SPW operates the health services and the schools cannot provide the essential information and resources young people need to avoid life threatening diseases like malaria and HIV/AIDS
U.S. Air Force
 The U.S. Air Force has partnered with the Congressional Award to promote the program to young enlisted airmen/women and the young dependents of career airmen/women. The base youth service coordinators have taken the lead in promoting and expanding the program in both domestic and international Air Force bases.
U.S. Civil Air Patrol
 In 1946, Congress granted a charter to Civil Air Patrol, charging its members with three missions. First, CAP was to promote aviation. As years passed, that mission expanded to include aerospace education as well. Second, CAP was to provide a training program to support the nation’s youth in contributing to society and preparing for successful adult lives. Finally, CAP was to continue its emergency services, the work for which CAP is still best known today.
Youth Service America
 Youth Service America (YSA) is an international resource center that partners with thousands of organizations committed to increasing the quality and quantity of volunteer opportunities for young people, ages 5-25, to serve locally, nationally, and globally. Founded in 1986, YSA’s mission is to expand the impact of the youth service movement with communities, schools, corporations, and governments.
