Sponsors - The Value of Sponsor Support

Why Give

The primary goal of The Congressional Award Foundation and our donors is to promote and recognize achievement, initiative, and service in America's youth. Our mission is to help young people realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Your contribution to The Congressional Award Foundation will continue to ensure that all young people, regardless of their situation, receive guidance, recognition and encouragement.

It is only because of the support of corporations and individuals that The Congressional Award has been able to reach so many young people and develop the program to this significant size. Your support will ensure continued outreach efforts and provide the resources required for processing the more than 25,000 participants currently registered in The Congressional Award.

Each year we host a number of events designed specifically for our supporters. Specific membership levels, including Charter for Youth, provide donors the opportunity for participation at Congressional Award events annually. Members receive invitations and unique recognition as benefactors at a range of international, national and regional events and meetings. For information on membership levels, or to discuss a potential giving plan that is tailored to your needs, please contact Erica Heyse at (202) 226-0130.

Program Growth Facts

  • The level of participation in The Congressional Award program by young Americans has grown tremendously. This has only been possible with the help of corporate sponsors and individuals who have provided the resources for staff to promote this initiative throughout the United States.
  • Only 5 years ago there were 17 Gold Medal recipients from 12 states. This year there are 273 Gold Medalists from more than 30 states.
  • In just 5 years, registration has increased five times and there is participation in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and three Territories - Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands, involving more than 106 Members of Congress.
  • Today, The Congressional Award program is more attractive to more young people. Marketing efforts have focused on urban areas to deliver the program to the under-served. Recent program registration reports reflect successful results.
  • Outreach over the past two years has involved more than 200,000 promotional materials made available to schools, youth organizations, and community organizations in an effort to reach the neighborhoods of America and introduce the benefits of the program to communities across the United States.

Goals for 2007/2008

Our goal is to double the number of young people enrolled in the program each year for the next five years. In order to do so, we must advance our fundraising and outreach efforts to an entirely new level. The National Office will be focusing on the following efforts this year.

  • Translate Congressional Award materials into Spanish.
  • Create and produce a Congressional Award CD-ROM for schools and youth groups to utilize.
  • Update Congressional Award materials to attract a larger audience.
  • Create training materials for adults - including Advisors, Operating Authorities, and Partnering Youth Organizations.
  • Build stronger relations with Boys and Girls Clubs, Migrant Education programs and other National youth organizations.
