The Congressional Award Youth and Technology Dinner

The Congressional Award Foundation hosts an annual dinner with members of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, and House Energy and Commerce Committee to advocate the importance of civic engagement among young people and the critical role technology plays to bring together youth of all backgrounds to serve a common purpose. The digital world has served to strengthen various forms of youth engagement. Technology has increased youth awareness of issues, problems and crises in their own communities as well as other parts of the world. It has become a powerful tool for communication and coordination of youth movements and creating a sense of solidarity among youth of all backgrounds.

This dinner helps us to build awareness of the Congressional Award program, and to raise money for the foundation so that we may continue recognizing youth for their positive contributions in communities nationwide.

This year's Youth and Technology Dinner took place on September 12, 2012.  Special Guests included Senator Roger Wicker, Representatives Ed Markey, Donna Christensen, Charles Rangel, André Carson, Eddie Bernice Johnson, Sheila Jackson Lee, Sanford Bishop, Bobby Scott, Maxine Waters, Cedric Richmond and Mel Watt.
