Congressman Lee Terry (NE02) Presents Local Youth

 

South Florida Ceremony - November 1, 2010

On Monday, November 1st, 58 youth ages 14-23 will be presented with their Congressional Award Medals in Palm Beach County, Florida. In attendance will also be U.S. Congressman Tom Rooney (FL16), Dr. Dennis Gallon the President of Palm Beach Community College, and Lynn Lyons Congressional Award National Board Member. Congressman Rooney will present the youth with their medals. A total of 32 youth earned their Congressional Award Bronze Medals, 19 youth earned their Congressional Award Silver Medals, and seven youth earned their Congressional Award Gold Medals. Congressman Cantor Congratulates Medalists

Seven Medalists from Virginia's 7th District had lunch with Congressman Eric Cantor, as he presented their Awards at a ceremony held on July 28, 2010 at the Capitol Hill Club. A full press release can be found here.

2010 Congressional Award Senate HELP Committee Dinner

The Congressional Award Foundation held its annual Senate HELP Committee Dinner on June 22, 2010 in Washington, D.C.  Former Senator John Culver was honored with the Leadership Award, joining the ranks of former award recipients Secretary Colin Powell, President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter and Senator Bob Dole. The Leadership Award is presented to individuals in the public sector for their outstanding commitment to challenge, encourage and honor the accomplishments of young Americans. 2010 Congressional Award Gold Medalists

The Congressional Award proudly presented 252 youth with the Congressional Award Gold Medal. The Ceremony for the Gold Medalists took place June 23, 2010 in Washington, DC. A complete listing as well as general release about the 2010 Gold Medal Class can be found near the bottom of this page.

Mississippi State University offers scholarship for Congressional Award Medalists

MSU Through a partnership between the Congressional Award and Mississippi State University’s Extension Service 4-H Program, hundreds of youth from across the state have been encouraged to take up the Congressional Award challenge. Mississippi State University and the Congressional Award hold that setting goals in the four areas; volunteer public service, personal development, physical fitness, and exploration are beneficial to youth. Thus, scholarships of $1,000, $750 and $500 are given to MSU students who have earned Gold, Silver or Bronze Congressional Award Medals, respectively. This makes MSU the first collegiate institution to offer scholarships specifically intended for Congressional Award medalists. Click for a full press release or more information on the scholarship.
