Nitya Kodali
How did you earn The Congressional Award?
VPS: I did work with my nonprofit organization, Letters & Love 501(c)(3). We send handmade letters and cards to thank healthcare professionals across the world. So far, we have sent over 50,000 letters and counting. I also volunteered through Key Club in various events across my community (nursing homes, 5k runs, clean-ups, food drives, etc).
PD: I studied topics such as Anatomy and Epidemiology for Science Olympiad and HOSA to prepare for competitions. My preparation paid off, and I placed internationally in competition.
PF: I did Bollywood dance and learned many new choreographies. Through this experience, I have greatly improved both my endurance and memory.
Exp: I traveled to two islands in Hawaii to explore the Polynesian culture and beautiful nature. Through my travels, I have met many amazing people and learned a lot about Hawaii. I will continue to travel and see the world beyond my home.
What are your current ambitions?
After graduating from high school this year with both a High school diploma and an Associate’s Degree, I intend to pursue my pre-medical education by obtaining my Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience and Public Health. I hope to eventually get my MD and serve as a Physician. I will combine my passions for community service and leadership in my future career.
Where do you find your motivation?
I often find motivation within myself and constantly push myself to do new things. Having the ability to inspire others to do good in this world inspires me to keep going.
