Marc Baer

Marc has spent over twenty years working in the healthcare industry. Currently, he is Vice President of Business Partnerships and Negotiations at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. Previously Marc served as Vice President, Health Services, and in that capacity had responsibility for enterprise efforts related to population health, health and wellness and healthcare affordability.  During his tenure at Blue Cross, Marc has led several different functions focused on delivering capabilities and solutions for its members, including pharmacy, quality and compliance, provider operations, strategic collaborations and partnerships, and clinical product innovation.

Prior to joining Blue Cross, Marc held leadership roles in the health care division of Target Corporation, where he led its pharmacy network as well as its clinic and optical businesses.  He also spent eight years at UnitedHealth Group working in a variety of areas including strategic partnerships, network and product administration, compliance and corporate development.  Marc grew up in northern Minnesota and began his career working as an attorney in a small town near Minneapolis.  

Marc has led the local chamber of commerce, served on several city and county citizen boards and commissions, and spent several years as an assistant martial arts instructor for youth through community education.  He currently serves as a national board member of the Congressional Award Foundation, the only official charity of the United States Congress which has as its primary goal the promotion and recognition of service, initiative and achievement in America’s youth.

Marc received a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School and a bachelor’s degree from St. Olaf College.
