The Congressional Award Podcast: Elevating D.C. Youth Launches New Season
Produced in Partnership with OCTFME and Deanwood Radio Broadcast Youth Journalism Program
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 16, 2025) —
The Congressional Award Foundation (CAF) and The DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment (OCTFME) are proud to announce the launch of Season 4 of The Congressional Award Podcast: Elevating D.C. Youth, produced in collaboration with students from the Deanwood Radio Broadcast Youth Journalism Program.
This season, titled “From Passion to Profession,” focuses on conversations with prominent career leaders across a variety of industries, providing young listeners with real-world insights into career pathways and the transition into the workforce. The podcast continues to serve as a platform for D.C. youth to build journalism, communication, and leadership skills while connecting directly with top professionals who share their experiences, challenges, and advice for the next generation.
“Empowering students to not only develop critical skills but also to envision their futures is at the heart of this collaboration,” said Erica Heyse, National Director of The Congressional Award Foundation. “This season’s focus on career journeys showcases the incredible potential of these young journalists and the valuable wisdom of our distinguished guests.”
Season 4 guests include leading voices from fields such as government affairs, healthcare, law, education, media, and public service, offering students and listeners a diverse and inspiring look at how passion can be turned into a meaningful profession.

Episodes air on DC Radio 96.3 HD4, streaming at DCRADIO.GOV, the DC Radio app for iPhone and Android, TuneIn, and Alexa. All episodes will also be available on-demand on SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other major platforms.
The Deanwood Radio Broadcast Youth Journalism Program was established in 2016 to educate and empower young adults in Wards 7 and 8 through broadcast journalism. Many program alumni have gone on to earn full college scholarships, majoring in mass communications and related fields.

Since its inception, the program has provided students from Wards 7 and 8 with training in journalism, research, and media advocacy, while fostering a supportive network of peers and mentors.
