Why She Joined the Congressional Award
Sydney joined the Congressional Award because of her passion for youth development. In her experience, many youth programs have entrance barriers that prevent young people from participating. This is one of the many ways that The Congressional Award sets itself apart. Sydney was drawn to the inclusive nature of The Award that calls on participants of all backgrounds to better themselves and their communities regardless of their ethnicity, race, creed, socioeconomic status, GPA, citizenship status, etc.
Program Area Highlight
As someone who believes in The Congressional Award’s mission, Sydney strives to find new ways to expand her skill set. In alignment with The Award’s Personal Development program area, she enjoys learning new languages and is currently teaching herself Portuguese!
